Cloudy Rainy Days Are Great For Creating

Today was a cloudy rainy day...a great day for creating something new to add to my shop.  I made these mini On-The-Go Wristlets out of some new fabric I got.  I especially love the light blue flowered one in the front.  You know I love to share pictures...so here they are :)

I was so productive today.  I was the mystery reader today for my daughter Emma's kindergarten class, I whipped up these little beauties, and I took pictures for a tutorial on zippers. 

Still Under Construction!!

For Mother's Day I decided to make my mom {the best nurse ever} a stethoscope cover.  I was already thinking of how I could do it when she called me on the phone with an idea for something else I could make: stethoscope covers.  So then I had to make her one.  I was planning on making several but the process of trial and error took more time than I anticipated and in the end I had one that seemed to be a success.  That was until she started using it at work and then figured out a small flaw in my design, it was too tight i.n the top to allow the ear buds to open fully. 

Another nurse at work requested one so I altered the design and will see how it works for her.  If I can get a good design figured out that will work for everyone, then I am sure you will be seeing them in my shop too.

Messenger Style Hobo Bag

I promised you I would share a picture of my bag when I got it all finished.  TaDa!! Here it is.  My new Messenger Style Hobo Bag.  I must say I LOVE this fabric. 

The inside has a pocket for my phone, ink pen, and another extra pocket that I am keeping my Mini Wallet in to keep it handy. 

You know I had to model it for you!  Hope everyone had a great weekend.  I am off to finish my sister's bag and then too the pool!!

New Bird Print!!

I added a new fabric print to my shop!  I have had my eye on this one for quite a while and finally got it.  I love it.  I wish I could keep everything for myself.  But really, how  many makeup bags does a girl need?  I am sure I could find lots of other uses for them though ...

like my Mini Wallets.  They are now being used to hold ear phones and even my birth control pills.  What kind of cool stuff would you store in one?

New Fabrics!!

Just wanted to share a couple more Mini Wallets in new fabrics that I have added to my shop.  I really love these little guys!  I used one today at work and it fit perfectly into my scrub pocket to keep my cash safe {I always worry about my cash falling out of my pocket}.  There are so many great uses for these little guys.  I carry one in my purse with my business cards and one with my iPhone's ear phones. 

 

Creative Changes

While knitting this bag and feeling the wonderful 100% wool yarn between my fingers the thought suddenly hit me:  why use anything else.  So I have decided to start using natural fiber materials to make my bags. I am going to be working with wool and cotton yarns and using 100% cotton fabric to line the inside.  The high quality yarns will give my bags more luxury and appeal.  I am also hoping to work out a plan with my dad for him to make me special purse handles for a new clutch design I want to start making.  Another way to give my bags that extra special touch { I will have to keep you posted on that }.

So to clear out the items made with acrylic yarn I have put them all on sale in my other shop, Maggie's Hand Knits.
